I thought I did too much before that I was entitled to “waste” some time. I took my time, I enjoyed life, I worked. You can imagine when I came to the US for college, life was suddenly so different. 3 hours of drawing classes at night sounds therapeutic. I didn’t have to stay at school till 10 pm some of the days. That was the way out for a 16-year-old me. The truth is, I couldn’t stand it so I picked up my art and design interests. Thank God, it’s 6 pm, no no not going home yet, eat dinner, go back to my classroom and work on the homework until 10.Ĭompletely nerve-wracking and I don’t know how anyone can do it. 4 classes in the morning and 5 classes in the afternoon. Monday through Friday I woke up at 5:45 in the morning, carpool with other kids at 6:20 so I could be at school before 7:10. It feels like a lifetime ago but I remember during high school. When I was working hard for myself, growing, and having meaningful purposes.

This book reminded me of some earlier life. I was taught to be humble, don’t show off, work very hard, and everything else Confucius may or may not have said. I have mixed feelings about it because I grew up in easter culture. But things got stirred up and I have to write them down now.Įverything about this book is opposite from most of the stuff on social media that talks about how to be successful or how to achieve any result. I’m a little over halfway through and I really want to wait till I finish reading to share some thoughts. Reading this book, Ego is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday is something I made up my mind to do. It’s ok to disagree but it’s not healthy to judge. In the last few years, I grew a tendency to believe that people can do whatever they want.

I hardly ever read books that tell “life lessons” anymore.
